The
premise of this record is as simple as its title. This is a record that I've always wanted
to do. We've been doing the band long enough now that it feels right to release
something like this. I picked one song from almost all our releases to give it kind of a
retrospective feel. These are some of my favorite Gameface songs. Although
slightly self indulgent, I took the opportunity to record a new original song as well. I recorded the songs in Jim Monroe's garage, which was once known as "Basura De Blanco" and now as "3D House of Pancakes". My idea was to record the songs as intimately as possible. I also tried to keep it as "live" as I could. It was hard not to want to add extra instruments once I was done, but I tried to remember the songs as they were originally written. A lot of Gameface songs start out like this and go on to become something bigger than their original idea. This is my way of bringing them back home. |
